City Property Tax Rate for Properties

In Robertson County
$1.01 per $100 of assessed value at the following percentages:

In Sumner County
$0.98 per $100 of assessed value at the following percentages:

 

 

 

Residential

 25% of assessed value

 

 

 

Commercial

 30% of assessed value

 

 

 

Industrial

 40% of assessed value

 

 

 

Property tax notices are mailed the first week of October each year.  City property taxes are due from October 1 through the end of February.  Any unpaid property taxes as of March 1 are considered delinquent and will accrue monthly interest and penalties at a rate of 1.5%.

 

Property Values and Owner Information

The Sumner and Robertson County Tax Assessors’ offices provide the city with the property assessed values.  The County Tax Assessors’ office is also responsible for name and address changes.  Tax notices reflect the property owner on record as of January 1.  If you have a mortgage with an escrow account to cover property taxes, it is your responsibility to forward a copy of the notice to your mortgage company.

All of the above services and many more like this cost the local taxpayers money.  The average homeowner pays about $ 490 per year in property taxes.  This represents only 36% of the actual cost of providing services to a home.  It takes a combination of business taxes, sales tax collections, and shared taxes coming from the State of Tennessee to allow the City of White House to continue to provide services. 

Other services offered include Wastewater and Sanitation.  These services are funded directly through user fees which may not be co-mingled with the revenues and expenses discussed above.

P             Street Lighting for White House costs nearly $ 125,000 per year.  This represents tax collections from nearly 255 typical homes in White House.

P             The City carefully reviews all submissions for plans from each development, and tries to ensure the City grows prudently and is not left with greater long-term costs.

P             The Police and Fire Departments respond to all medical calls within the City limits.  The City’s public safety officers are routinely the first on-site and the Fire Department has the capability of stabilizing many medical conditions.

P             The City has actually lowered the number of full-time employees per 1,000 citizens in the last five years from 10.3 to 9.7.  However, the City continues to provide for all of the services promised to the citizenry.

P             The Library provides a 6-week summer reading program for children of all ages, and on-going story hours and book clubs
