Citizens’ Police Academy

Community Outreach

The White House Rotary Club and White House Police Department have teamed up in support of their "Wheels in Motion" project.  Wheels in Motion promotes and rewards young citizens who exhibit good character traits and citizenship.  The program helps raise awareness of the Rotary Club's motto, "Service Above Self".  The bicycle award is just another example of the club giving back to the community that it supports.  The Police Department provides the helmet to the award recipient, in support of its accident and injury prevention programs which include:
Safe Kids Coalition of Tennessee, Risk Watch, Fit Youth for a Strong America and Captain Street Smart.

DARE - Drug  Abuse Resistance Education

D.A.R.E. was established in Los Angeles in 1983 to help the police educate the young people of their area in regards to drugs and violence.  D.A.R.E. is now in almost every state in the United States and 43 countries around the world.  The D.A.R.E. program started in White House approximately 10 years ago and it has influenced thousands of children in our area. This year alone there were over 250 5th grade students that graduated from the D.A.R.E. program. D.A.R.E. is a community based program that needs the support of the Police, Educators, and Parents to work.  To learn more about D.A.R.E. please go to the national D.A.R.E. website.

Toys for Tots Campaign

The White House Police and Fire Departments will participate in and support the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program by designating each of its buildings as donation drop off sites.  The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a shiny new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to needy youngsters that will motivate them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders.  Citizens are encouraged to participate by dropping off a new, unwrapped toy at either location beginning November 5th:  Police Department at 303 North Palmers Chapel Rd. or the Fire Department at 416 Hwy. 76. For further info on how to obtain toys for a family in need of support, visit www.toysfortots.org.  Point of contact for additional information is Captain Jeff Mingledorff.
